The basics to quitting smoking:  What you need to know

For anyone considering giving up smoking, we've put together a short primer to cover some basic things you should be familiar with.  We'll cover subjects such as what steps to follow, what quit smoking products do, and the effects you'll experience over time.  We'll also offer a few suggestions on what you can do to reduce withdrawal symptoms while taking any quit smoking supplement.

  Quit Smoking Plan

In order to be successful at quitting smoking, it is important to have some type of plan in place before you begin.  As you probably know, quitting smoking can be very difficult and many fail.  But, if you have a plan and follow several important steps, your chances of successfully quitting increase dramatically.  Below are several steps or items that every good quit smoking attempt or plan should have.  These include:

  1. Quit SmokingBegin your recovery period on a day you can remember, such as a holiday.  This will make it easy to remember exactly when you started and how far you have come.  Believe it or not, not knowing exactly when you started your program increases your chances for failure.

  2. Develop a support group of friends, family, spouse, and co-workers who all know that you are giving up smoking.  Make certain that these people "check-up" on you occasionally and offer support.

  3. Rid your life of all tobacco products.  This will help reduce "impulse" yearnings for tobacco products.  Be sure these products are out of your house, car, work, and anywhere else you spend time.

  4. Use a quit smoking product to aid in managing withdrawal symptoms.  Studies have shown that people who use these types of products double their chances of quitting!  The number one reason people give up on quitting is their inability to deal with withdrawal symptoms.  Make sure you have a product to help you deal with them.

Withdrawal Symptoms and How to Deal With Them

As we just mentioned, the number one reason why people fail at quitting smoking is their inability to "fight-off" withdrawal symptoms.  Withdrawal symptoms are caused by your body when it no longer receives nicotine.  Although symptoms vary by person, many people report the following:

  1. Feeling very irritable

  2. Gaining weight

  3. Feeling dull and lifeless

  4. Increased tension

  5. Inability to sleep

  6. Constantly fatigued

You can see that these are some pretty serious "side effects" of quitting smoking.  It's no wonder so many people are unable to quit!  Luckily, there are products that can help smokers effectively deal with withdrawal symptoms once they decide to quit.  Herbal formulas offer a number of benefits that directly aid in dealing with these symptoms.

What Herbal Quit Smoking Products Do

Herbal quit smoking formulas work by attempting to "trick" the body into believing it is getting nicotine.  If successful, this leads to feelings of calmness and relaxation.  And, similar to Nicotine Replacement Therapy, the amount of the formula is reduced over time.  Most herbal products utilize the theory behind Nicotine Replacement Therapy.  The only difference is that instead of nicotine, various herbs are used.  Both programs involve gradually decreasing the dosage over time until all withdrawal symptoms have disappeared.
